Suanya Resort Koh Kood is located along the Northern West coast of the island next to Klong Mad fishing village. It’s quite a special and unique place that can be the perfect relaxing holiday destination for those who can appreciate the authentic Thai style. The original name is Suanya Ko Kut Resort & Spa.
The resort is built on a hill where the rooms and reception are surrounding well-maintained and beautifully landscaped grounds. Many different orchids can be found in the tropical garden which is full of funny details like small ponds and private sitting corners. Downhill is a small but lovely beach that isn’t shared with any other accommodation. A great location to watch the sunset and also a very nice snorkeling spot near the rocks. The sea at Suanya Resort & Spa is usually quite calm which makes it also a nice swimming spot for families with children.
All rooms come with 24h air-conditioning, a private bathroom with hot shower, a TV and refrigerator. Many rooms also have coffee & tea making facilities and some bathrooms even have a bathtub. Most rooms offer nice views whether it’s garden view or seaview. Suanya is not a large resort but they do offer quite a few different roomtypes.
The Plubplueng type can be found closest to the beach with beautiful seaview. From the balconies it’s only a few footsteps to the beach. Plubplueng Bungalows are newer free standing bungalows and the Rooms are in a unit of two adjacent rooms, each with private balcony.
Orchid bungalows are further in the back of the resort (next to the restaurant). Orchid bungalows can be booked for two and for three persons. The bungalows for three persons are a bit higher on the hill offering quite some privacy as their location is a bit hidden in the lush garden.
The two story wooden house opposite the restaurant is home to the Chaba rooms and next to them are the Leelavadee rooms that can be booked for two or four persons.
Last but not least are the Mali rooms on top of the restaurant with a spacious roof terrace. Each Mali room offers bedding for seven persons and the bedrooms are connected by a shared sitting area in the middle. Behind both bedrooms is a corridor with four separate bathrooms.
From Suanya Resort it’s easy to explore more of the island as the main road is just outside of the resort and motorbikes can be rented at the reception. The dive school Paradise Divers has an office just around the corner at the entrance of Koh Kood Beach Resort.
Suanya Resort is a Thai style resort and occasionally visited by Thai groups during holiday weekends. Staff doesn’t speak much English and there’s not a long list of activities to choose from like in resorts with a more Western approach. For people who don’t mind this we highly recommend the resort. The natural setting is beautiful and perfect for rest seekers who want a peaceful hideaway with a nice beach to relax. The resort is under new management and many rooms have been renovated in the past year. Free wi-fi is available in the restaurant.
